Is this worth your virginity?

SO the “body for Apple products” idea hasn’t been slowing down so much in China.

Apparently a young female jiulinghou (someone born in the 90′s) has tweeted on Weibo (the Chinese version of Twitter) that she would sell her virginity in exchange for an iPhone4. She tweeted it was her “dream to own a iPhone4 but her father won’t let her get one.”

What a way to spite him, huh?

She then posted a picture of herself along with other personal information saying she was willing to “sell” her virginity to the person theat buys her one.

A lot of people have posted negative feedback on her wall pointing out that the phone wasn’t worth what she was prepared to give away. Other’s thought that someone was using her account to pull a nasty prank on her.

Though the truth remains to be seen, noone can deny a growing trend of Chinese people have been willing to do almost anything to acquire Apple products.

Last April, a 17 year old boy from Anhui sold his own kidney for only 22,000 yuan ($3,400) to buy himself an iPad and cellphone.

Obvioudly their own stupidity has been hidden behind a scientific blame game. Sociologists are pointing the finger at the rising importance of materialism amongst the young generation and their belief that there are no limits to how they satisfy their desires.

Really now? That just sounds like human nature to me.

History has proved we always want more, and in most cases, stupid people would go as far as selling themselves to get it. Prostitutes do it for money, and if it isn’t some elaborate hoax, so is this girl. Take a look back at history; most times, fathers sold their own daughters into loveless marriages to acquire more land. It’s virtually the same.

There are millions of people in hundreds or thousands of dollars worth of extra debt just to acquire a dream home. There are countless other examples.

Thankfully, however, this level of craziness hasn’t hit Korean shores yet. Or has it?
